Senior Lead PHP Developer – PHP & Symfony

Our client, a prominent educational institution in Brussels, is looking for an experienced developer to strengthen their internal ICT team. This role involves leading the development and maintenance of in-house web applications using the Symfony framework while providing coaching and technical guidance to the team.

• Lead and coach a team of developers to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Execute complex programming tasks including coding, testing, and debugging.
• Develop and maintain web applications using the Symfony framework.
• Manage deployment and release pipelines within a DevOps environment.
• Perform functional and technical analyses for new and existing software solutions.
• Write unit and browser tests to maintain high standards of code reliability.
• Take a leading role in facilitating Agile development methodologies within the team.

• You have 8+ years of experience in the development of web-based applications.
• You bring 5+ years of backend development expertise with PHP and Symfony.
• You possess 5+ years of experience in DevOps environments using Jenkins for production deployments.
• You have 3+ years of experience with containerization using Docker.
• You bring 3+ years of experience working with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
• You have a proven track record in performing functional and technical analyses.
• You possess experience in leading development teams and coaching other developers.
• You have professional experience working with Agile methodologies in a leadership capacity.
• You are a native speaker of Dutch.

Nice to Haves

• Knowledge of the university or higher education context.
• Experience writing browser-based tests.
