Senior RPG Developer – IBM i Modernization & Business Systems

Our client, a long-established organization in the distribution sector, is seeking a Senior RPG Developer to maintain and modernize their business-critical custom software. The role focuses on evolving a core system that manages logistics and integrates with modern web applications.

• Develop new applications from scratch on the IBM i (AS/400) platform including native 5250 emulation.
• Maintain and modernize a portfolio of business-critical, custom-built RPG programs.
• Build interfaces between the core platform and external systems like PHP webshops.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects across development, modernization, and maintenance phases.
• Troubleshoot existing programs and implement pragmatic technical fixes.
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into functional technical solutions.

• 8+ years of hands-on experience as an RPG Developer on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.
• You possess experience with native development and 5250 emulation in custom environments.
• You have a proven track record of modernizing legacy AS/400 applications and building new ones.
• You bring experience building and maintaining interfaces between IBM i and external platforms.
• You're comfortable managing multiple projects in parallel and switching contexts efficiently.
• You're a pragmatic communicator at ease with direct stakeholder management.
• You are fluent in Dutch with a professional command of English.

Nice to Haves

• Basic command of French.
• Working knowledge of PHP.
• Prior experience in retail, distribution, or wholesale environments.
