Senior Backend / Data Integration Engineer (Python & Spring Boot).

Our client, a leading public administration organization, is undertaking a major digital transformation to modernize its core legacy systems into a microservices-based architecture. The project focuses on building a flexible and scalable digital platform using an API-first and event-driven approach on Kubernetes.

• Develop and maintain modern microservices to replace legacy monolithic applications.
• Implement API-first strategies and event-driven architectures to improve system agility.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications within a Kubernetes environment.
• Perform data integration and transformation tasks using ETL and relational databases.
• Collaborate within an Agile Scrum team to accelerate the delivery of business value.
• Optimize application performance and monitoring using specialized logging and diagnostic tools.

• Experience: Around 5 to 8+ years in Backend / Data Engineering roles.
• Core Languages: Strong proficiency in Python (for data pipelines/ETL) combined with a solid understanding of Spring Boot / Java architectures.
• Data & Database: Solid SQL skills with experience handling large enterprise databases (experience with mainframe DB2 is a huge plus).
• Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Linux, Git, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Observability: Practical experience using ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) to debug distributed systems.
• Methodology & Language: Experience working in an Agile Scrum team (Jira/Confluence). Fluent English is mandatory; Dutch or French is highly appreciated.
