Expert Database Engineer – OT & Utility Systems

Our client in the utilities sector is seeking an Expert Database Engineer to strengthen their operational technology systems team. This role focuses on maintaining a robust data foundation while driving the development, optimization, and integration of new business-critical requirements.

• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of database systems, including health checks, upgrades, patching, and data refreshes.
• Perform regular data updates and cleaning to ensure the integrity of the operational technology data foundation.
• Research and develop technical solutions to meet new business needs and system integration requirements.
• Optimize and tune database performance to ensure high availability for business-critical applications.
• Collaborate on the technical setup and maintenance of complex data environments across various operating systems.
• Document all technical procedures and workflows with high precision to ensure operational continuity.

• 8+ years of expertise in relational databases, including advanced database tuning and optimization.
• 5+ years of experience in the setup and maintenance of Oracle and Linux environments.
• 2+ years of experience managing Apache Cassandra environments.
• Proficiency in automation and scripting using Python and Shell.
• You possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional experience.
• You bring a security-oriented mindset and the ability to accurately document technical workflows.
• You are fluent in Dutch at a C2 level.

• Knowledge of ISO27001 standards and security best practices.
• Experience working within OT SCADA environments.
• Experience with Windows operating systems.
• Familiarity with change and release management processes.
• Experience supporting large-scale, business-critical applications.
