Senior Functional Analyst & Software Architect – Real-time Traffic Systems

Our client, a leading organization in the transport infrastructure sector, is seeking a Senior Functional Analyst & Software Architect to modernize their real-time traffic management applications. This role focuses on optimizing system robustness and cybersecurity through advanced functional architecture and Agile collaboration within a mission-critical environment.

• Bridge the gap between business needs and IT implementation by translating requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications.
• Design functional architectures for microservices and distributed systems while ensuring alignment with the project’s technical roadmap.
• Support the Product Owner in managing the product backlog and refining user stories within an Agile Scrum framework.
• Guide development teams throughout the project lifecycle to ensure a clear understanding of functional choices and requirements.
• Oversee the creation and execution of functional acceptance tests and perform root-cause analysis for complex incidents.
• Provide technical leadership and coaching to junior colleagues to foster knowledge sharing and professional growth.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure the continuous availability of critical real-time traffic systems.

• You have 15+ years of experience as a functional analyst in software development environments.
• You bring 10+ years of expertise in Agile Scrum methodologies, including User Stories and Backlog Management.
• You possess 10+ years of experience in functional architecture, Microservices, and Distributed Systems.
• You have 10+ years of technical experience with Java, SQL, and Relational Databases.
• You're experienced with 10+ years of working in Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift environments.
• You bring 10+ years of experience using JIRA and Confluence for project tracking and documentation.
• You have 5+ years of experience with Story mapping, Xray, Tibco RDV, and Hazelcast.
• You possess recognized certifications as a Product Owner and in Software Architecture.
• You're proactive in coaching junior colleagues and facilitating technical knowledge transfer.
• You are fluent in Dutch or French with C1 level proficiency in the other national language and English.

• Work regime: Full-time with a 24/7 on-call rotation (one week every eight weeks).
• Contract: open to both permanent employees and freelancers.
