Our client, a leading global pharmaceutical company, is seeking a Scientist to join their analytical development team. This lab-based role focuses on the advanced characterization of pharmaceutical products and combination products to drive design decisions, verification, and product development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced materials characterization experiments using mechanical testers, imaging, and spectroscopy instruments.
  • Execute and optimize mechanical property tests including tensile, uniaxial compression, and injectability.
  • Conduct dimensional metrology and fit/form assessments using advanced systems and profile projectors.
  • Apply IR spectroscopy and imaging techniques to elucidate polymer identity, morphology, and structure-property relationships.
  • Analyze and interpret complex datasets to provide data-driven insights for product quality and performance questions.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure operational excellence and compliance with laboratory standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present findings to cross-functional stakeholders in an international environment.

Requirements

  • You have a PhD or Master's degree in Polymer Sciences, Material Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Physics.
  • You possess practical laboratory experience in mechanical property testing including uniaxial testing, injectability, and 3-point bending.
  • You bring hands-on experience with analytical instruments such as IR, SEM, and optical microscopy.
  • You're proficient in sample preparation, instrument operation, and basic statistical data analysis.
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a pro-active, results-driven mindset.
  • You are fluent in English.

Nice to Haves

  • Prior work experience with combination products and medical devices.
  • Knowledge of advanced imaging techniques such as Raman Microscopy, XCT, or THz imaging.
