OT Architect – Industrial Automation & Cybersecurity

Our client, a major player in the maritime and logistics sector, is seeking an expert to enhance their operational technology landscape. This role focuses on evaluating and refining OT architecture, standards, and documentation while ensuring a secure integration between industrial automation and IT environments.

• Design OT architectures for industrial automation systems using the Purdue Model and relevant reference frameworks.
• Define standards and principles for data flows and integrations between OT systems and IT platforms.
• Evaluate existing OT standards for completeness and alignment with current industrial requirements.
• Support technical projects through design reviews, architectural guidelines, and technology selection.
• Ensure compliance with NIS2, IEC 62443, and ISO 27001 in collaboration with information security teams.
• Mentor and coach internal staff to facilitate knowledge transfer and long-term sustainability of the OT role.

• 5+ years experience in industrial automation, OT environments, or IT/OT integration.
• You possess extensive knowledge of OT systems including SCADA, PLCs, and industrial applications.
• You have experience designing architectures and technical solutions within complex industrial environments.
• You bring expertise in industrial protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet, or Ethernet/IP.
• You're familiar with OT security principles and standards like IEC 62443, NIS2, and ISO 27001.
• You have a background in translating IT building blocks into a secure and functional OT context.
• You possess strong coaching and mentoring skills to support technical knowledge transfer.
• You're proactive, assertive, and possess strong analytical reasoning skills.
• You are fluent in Dutch and English.

Nice to Haves

• Experience in a maritime or port environment.
• Proven track record in project guidance and implementation follow-up.
• Advanced knowledge of lifecycle management for OT systems.
