Our client, a prominent organization in the media sector, is seeking a backend developer to strengthen their digital products division. This role involves building a scalable, future-oriented content platform within a greenfield architecture, serving a large and diverse audience. The successful candidate will operate as a T-shaped professional, bridging the gap between backend development and data engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and backend services using Java 21, Python, and Go.
  • Implement ELT processes and manage data integrations from diverse source systems into a data lake and data warehouse.
  • Build and maintain core backend APIs that power the central content platform.
  • Collaborate with solution architects to define technical choices and expand the platform architecture.
  • Ensure the quality, performance, and scalability of data-driven solutions.
  • Participate actively in an Agile/Scrum environment, contributing to code reviews and technical documentation.

Requirements

  • You have 5+ years of experience in software development and data engineering within complex or large-scale projects.
  • You possess 3+ years of experience in backend development using Java, Python, or Go.
  • You bring 3+ years of experience working with AWS Services such as Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
  • You have 1+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code using AWS CloudFormation and DevOps principles.
  • You bring experience working with Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • You possess experience working in an Agile/Scrum team.
  • You're a communicative team player with an open-minded and inquisitive approach to technical challenges.
  • You are fluent in Dutch at a C2 level.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Quarkus and event-driven architecture within microservices.
  • Knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or Prepr.
  • Familiarity with design patterns such as Observer, Strategy, and Chain of Responsibility.
  • Prior professional experience within the media industry.
