Our client, a prominent player in the telecommunications infrastructure sector, is seeking an experienced professional to strengthen their regional design team. This role acts as a technical expert for regional fiber deployments, focusing on capacity upgrades and complex network relocations. The position bridges the gap between engineering guidelines and operational execution on existing fiber networks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead fiber moves and capacity upgrades within the designated region as a technical subject matter expert.
  • Translate engineering guidelines and high-level designs into operational reality for complex, existing networks.
  • Perform detailed impact analyses and create technical designs for network relocations.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and internal planners to ensure timely project execution.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including regional managers and partners.
  • Support projects from the design phase through to final implementation, including occasional night shifts for execution oversight.
  • Participate in regular regional synchronization meetings to provide technical guidance and status updates.

Requirements

  • You have 3+ years of experience in Fiber Engineering within complex, existing infrastructure environments.
  • You possess strong knowledge of Fiber Design, capacity planning, and regional network layouts.
  • You bring experience working with GIS applications and technical mapping tools.
  • You have a solid understanding of public infrastructure, including roads, waterways, and utility networks.
  • You are analytical, assertive, and proactive with the ability to take full ownership of regional projects.
  • You possess a valid driver's license and are willing to travel frequently within the region.
  • You're willing to support occasional night shifts and on-call rotations when required.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with tools such as Smartworks, Marlin, Cablescout, or GIPOD.
  • Previous experience within the telecommunications or utility infrastructure sector.
  • Holding an engineering degree.

  • Working model: Hybrid with mandatory presence in Mechelen (weekly) and Izegem (bi-weekly).
