Our client, a leading organization in the Belgian energy sector, is looking for a specialist to support future energy scenarios and modeling frameworks. This role focuses on data consolidation and simulation analysis to help plan the energy transition across European electricity markets.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate historical data into structured model input datasets for electricity market simulations.
  • Collect and challenge projection scenarios from various European countries to ensure alignment with defined storylines.
  • Develop and review analysis tools using R, Python, and Excel to manage parameters within simulation frameworks.
  • Create visualizations of simulation outputs using Power BI and geospatial tools to identify key trends.
  • Analyze algorithm results critically and perform data engineering to manage interfaces between modeling tools.
  • Support quality control processes on built models and conduct impact assessments on demand and flexibility assumptions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in data analysis or modeling within the energy sector.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data management and tool development.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel for data exploration and reporting.
  • Possess strong knowledge of European energy policies and electricity market targets.
  • You bring an analytical mind with the ability to challenge projections concerning renewables and industry evolution.
  • You're proactive and able to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • You are fluent in English with a fluent level of Dutch or French.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with VBA for scripting and automation.
  • Knowledge of economic dispatch tools such as ANTARES.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI or Qgis.
  • Previous experience in market simulations and data mining.
