Backend Developer – Java Spring & AWS

Our client, a major media organization in Flanders, is seeking a developer to join their digital products division. This role involves building and maintaining critical backend systems, including identity management and notification platforms, that serve millions of daily users.

• Assume end-to-end responsibility for the development lifecycle from concept through testing to release.
• Develop high-quality and maintainable code within a Scrum framework.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, technology selection, and the implementation of best practices.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and infrastructure as code initiatives.
• Monitor emerging technologies and methodologies to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.

• 3+ years of backend development with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data, and Hibernate/JPA.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and event-driven architecture.
• Knowledge of testing and quality protocols including JUnit, Mockito, and E2E testing.
• Familiarity with version control using Git and conducting code reviews.
• You are a team player who can also work independently.
• You are fluent in Dutch with a C2 level.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB.
• Knowledge of Go, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Understanding of security and identity protocols like OIDC, OAuth2, SAML, and SAP Customer Data Cloud.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices such as CI/CD, Docker, Jenkins, and IaC.
• Experience working in a Scrum or Agile environment.
