Data Engineer – BI & Microsoft Fabric

Our client, a prominent organization in the public safety sector, is looking for a Data Engineer to support a large-scale modernization and migration of their data environment. The role involves developing end-to-end data solutions on a modern platform, bridging the gap between backend engineering and business visualization.

• Migrate existing data pipelines and warehouse structures to Microsoft Fabric.
• Develop and maintain data transformations using SQL and Python processing logic.
• Design datamodels following Kimball, Inmon, or Data Vault principles.
• Build Power BI datasets and semantic layers to support operational and strategic reporting.
• Translate business requirements into concrete KPIs and intuitive dashboards.
• Implement data governance and access control within the business intelligence environment.
• Facilitate self-service BI by guiding and supporting business users on the platform.

• You bring 5+ years of experience as a BI Consultant or BI Developer.
• You possess 2+ years of project experience with SQL.
• You have experience with Microsoft Fabric or the Azure data stack, including Synapse and Data Factory.
• You're experienced with Power BI, specifically in building semantic models and dashboards.
• You possess a strong understanding of Data Management (ETL) and reporting tools.
• You have proven expertise in data warehouse modeling methodologies.
• You bring experience with Git and versioning workflows.
• You have a Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant field.
• You are fluent in Dutch with a C2 level.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with dbt for modular data modeling.
• Programming proficiency in Python.
• Experience performing requirements analysis for data projects.
