Full Stack Java Developer – Digital & Geospatial Solutions

Our client, a leading public organization dedicated to environmental and spatial planning, is seeking a developer for a long-term engagement within a multidisciplinary team. The role involves serving as the technical lead and primary point of contact for the team while overseeing the full development lifecycle of web applications. The project focuses on translating complex business requirements into innovative technical solutions for both new and legacy systems within a specific knowledge domain.

• Act as the primary technical point of contact and lead for a multidisciplinary development team.
• Design functional and technical architectures for web applications within the environmental domain.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions using an engineering mindset.
• Develop, test, and maintain both new and existing Java-based applications and geospatial systems.
• Ensure high-quality code through peer reviews and technical guidance for other developers.
• Collaborate within an Agile environment to deliver domain-specific software solutions.

• 5+ years of experience in backend development with Java, Spring, JPA, Hibernate, and Maven.
• 5+ years of experience in frontend development using JavaScript.
• Experience in functional and technical design and application architecture.
• You possess a relevant certification or equivalent through extensive experience in Java environments.
• You bring experience working with Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
• You're proactive, solution-oriented, and possess an engineering mindset.
• You are fluent in Dutch with a C2 level of proficiency.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with Node.js and npm.
• Knowledge of automated testing and debugging.
• Experience in a lead developer or coaching role.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies in a leading capacity.
• Previous experience within the public sector.
