Senior Cloud-Native Platform Technical Lead – Kubernetes & AWS

Our client, a leading global industrial organization, is seeking a technical leader to oversee their cloud-native platform engineering. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of Kubernetes-based workloads across hybrid environments while driving the technical roadmap in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

• Manage the full lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters including administration, upgrades, patching, and capacity planning.
• Design and evolve AWS-based platform infrastructure using automation and infrastructure-as-code to ensure secure, repeatable environments.
• Implement observability solutions for metrics and logging while leading incident response and root-cause analysis.
• Enforce security baselines, identity controls, and vulnerability management to maintain audit-ready operational practices.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and developer onboarding guides.
• Provide technical guidance on complex networking stacks, including CNI, DNS, and enterprise service integration.
• Partner with stakeholders to define and deliver a prioritized roadmap focusing on feature delivery and technical debt reduction.

• 8+ years experience leading production Kubernetes environments including Rancher, RKE2, and cluster lifecycle operations.
• 8+ years in Linux systems administration with expertise in TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, and Cilium networking.
• 8+ years architecting cloud-native solutions on AWS utilizing EKS, IAM, VPC, and Route 53.
• 5+ years implementing monitoring and alerting systems using CloudWatch and leading incident response.
• 3+ years managing version control and CI/CD pipelines with GitHub and GitHub Actions.
• You possess the ability to produce high-quality architecture documentation and operational SOPs.
• You're a strong communicator capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• You are fluent in English.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Crossplane, or Puppet.
• Knowledge of GitOps and application delivery via Argo CD, Flux, Fleet, Helm, or Kustomize.
• Familiarity with container security and policy enforcement using OPA, Gatekeeper, or Kyverno.
• Background in SRE practices including SLIs, SLOs, and post-incident learning.
• Professional certifications such as CKA, CKAD, CKS, or AWS associate/pro levels.

• Start date: June 1st.
• Work regime: Full-time.
• Location: Ghent.
• Working model: Hybrid (minimum 2 days onsite).
• Contract: open to both permanent employees and freelancers.
