AI Engineer – Generative AI & System Integration

Our client, a large public institution, is seeking an AI Engineer to drive the implementation of intelligent solutions within their digital ecosystem. The role focuses on building, integrating, and operationalizing modern AI applications such as generative AI and document processing within a multidisciplinary Agile environment.

• Translate functional requirements into concrete AI solutions including intelligent assistance, information extraction, and automated classification.
• Design and implement AI services using modern frameworks such as generative AI and retrieval-based grounding.
• Integrate AI components with internal backend systems and APIs to ensure seamless digital workflows.
• Develop and maintain evaluation frameworks to measure the quality, safety, and reliability of AI outputs.
• Transition proof-of-concepts into production-ready services with a focus on version control and deployment.
• Monitor and optimize the performance, latency, and operational costs of AI solutions in production.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align implementations with security and architecture standards.

• 3+ years backend development with Python for AI services and retrieval pipelines.
• 1+ years development with C# and .NET for API integration and backend connectivity.
• 1+ years with Generative AI, LLMs, and retrieval-based grounding techniques.
• 1+ years using frameworks such as Hugging Face, LangChain, or LlamaIndex.
• 1+ years with SQL and production-level data processing.
• 1+ years with CI/CD, version control, and deployment of AI components.
• Experience in logging, tracing, and monitoring using tools like Dynatrace or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience working in an Agile SAFe environment.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on AI governance, including bias and hallucination management.
• You are fluent in Dutch or French with passive knowledge of the other language (French or Dutch).

Nice to Haves

• Experience with containerization, cloud services, or AI platform services.
• Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and advanced retrieval patterns.
• Background in structured outputs or document intelligence.
