Senior Data Engineer – Azure Data Platform & Architecture Lead

Our client, a leading organization in Brussels, is looking for a Senior Data Engineer Technical Lead to ensure technical quality and architectural alignment within a data engineering team. This role serves as a primary technical reference and acts as the interface between engineering teams and platform architects while maintaining hands-on involvement in critical data pipeline development.

• Serve as the technical authority for data engineers within the team to ensure adherence to architectural standards.
• Conduct pull request validations and peer reviews to enforce data engineering best practices.
• Provide coaching and guidance to junior data engineers to support their professional development.
• Act as the primary interface between data platform architects and engineering teams to translate guidelines into actionable instructions.
• Recommend technical solutions for various data warehouse layers including ingestion, transformation, and consumption.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the data platform and the optimization of data quality and operational reliability.

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering with a focus on the Azure ecosystem.
• Expert proficiency in Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Mapping Data Flow (MDF).
• Advanced experience with Databricks and PySpark for large-scale data processing.
• Strong command of SQL and dimensional modeling, including star schemas and Data Warehouse concepts.
• Natural leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor multiple technical teams.
• Strong communication skills adapted to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Analytical mindset with a structured approach and high attention to detail.
• You are fluent in English and French with good knowledge of Dutch.
