FAQs
- Do I need strong PLC programming experience to get started?
Not necessarily. Many roles accept a technical bachelor (or master) background with basic automation knowledge and a willingness to learn. Entry-level positions often include on-the-job training for PLC programming and SCADA/visualization systems.
- Which programming languages, platforms or tools should I know?
Common platforms include Siemens TIA Portal/Step 7, Beckhoff TwinCAT, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, plus SCADA/HMI systems, industrial communication protocols (e.g. PROFINET, EtherCAT, Modbus). Knowledge of control logic, I/O mapping, motion control, and optionally robotics or vision systems is a strong asset.
- Will I work only in the office or also on site?
Both. Engineering and programming tasks happen in office, but you will also visit sites for testing, commissioning and troubleshooting when systems go live.
- Which industries can I work in?
You can work in pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food and beverage, automotive, energy, infrastructure and many other sectors. Your automation expertise is valuable everywhere.
