Talent Management

You do the work. We make sure you never do it alone. From your first day to your last, one dedicated Talent Manager stands beside you, for guidance, coaching and everything in between.

What your Talent Manager does for you

Five things you can count on from day one.

One dedicated point of contact

The same Talent Manager throughout your journey. Not a remote HR desk, but one person who knows you and your project.

Support from before day one

Contact starts a week before your first day. After that, regular check-ins and a deliberately low threshold to reach out any time.

Coaching and career growth

Most of our Talent Managers are certified coaches. When deeper topics arise, another Talent Manager takes the coaching, so the conversation stays neutral: career direction, confidence or well-being.

A whole team behind you

Your Talent Manager works with HR, the commercial team and operations, so you feel supported from every angle.

In your own language

Talent Managers work by region and sector, so you are followed up by someone who speaks your language and knows the clients you work at.

Two smiling colleagues stand in a modern office, one holding papers, appearing to present or lead a discussion.

Your journey, step by step

No vague promises, just a clear rhythm you can rely on.

01

Before day one

Your Talent Manager reaches out a week before you start, to introduce themselves and answer every question. You already know there is a team ready for you.

02

Your first weeks

Onboarding focused on making you feel welcome, informed and supported: our values, our culture and how we work, and what you can expect from your Talent Manager.

03

Every quarter

A check-in on how your project and the collaboration with the client are going. At least once a year there is also a formal evaluation, together with your team lead at the client.

04

Whenever you need

Reach out any time by phone, email or Teams. When deeper topics come up, another Talent Manager from the team takes the coaching. If an answer cannot come today, you hear that, and you hear when it will.

Why talent management matters in consulting

Consulting has a dynamic of its own. Our consultants work for and at our clients, often on site and for long periods. That is a strength, but it also means the connection to your own employer has to be built on purpose.

That is exactly what talent management does. Your Talent Manager is your stable point of contact between you, the client and Pauwels, for practical matters and personal development alike.

For you, that means you never have to worry about the things around the work. Where do I go with a question? What if something changes on my project? That is taken off your plate, so you can focus fully on what you were hired to do.

Not every consultancy has Talent Managers. For some, it stops at an invoice. We have been building this for years, and we keep getting better at it.

"I really value the regular contact with my Talent Manager. She checks in at a pace that suits me, without pressure. You feel part of the organisation, even while you work at the client."

FAQs

What training and development do I get as a consultant?

Development is part of the role, not an extra. You have access to internal training through the Pauwels Academy, and alongside the project itself your Talent Manager looks at where you want to grow, professionally and personally.

Can I get career guidance, even early in my career?

Yes, and it is offered in-house. Official career guidance can only be requested after a number of years on the labour market, while it is often younger consultants who have questions about their direction. Several of our Talent Managers are certified career counsellors, so you do not have to wait to have that conversation.

What support do I get when my project or the client's organisation changes?

A reorganisation at a client, or a switch to a new project, is more than a practical change. Your Talent Manager helps you understand why the change is happening, because that context is what makes it possible to accept it. Some of our Talent Managers have a background in change management specifically for this.

What happens if a client gives feedback on my work?

Your Talent Manager sits down at the table with you. The conversation is about what the feedback actually is and how you grow from it, not about assigning blame. The aim is to stay close to you and still bring the right message to the client.

Can I move into another sector as a consultant?

Yes. Consultants regularly move between sectors, for example from engineering into life sciences. Expect the first weeks to be mostly procedures and work instructions, and expect to start over on that with every new client. Your Talent Manager gives you the context behind those rules, so the switch feels less like a different world.

Will my Talent Manager speak my language?

Yes. Talent Managers work by region and sector, and Dutch, French and English are all covered. Language carries culture, humour and nuance, and part of that quietly disappears when two people meet in a third language. What your Talent Manager does not do is speak your technical language. That is deliberate: the job is to understand the reality you work in, not to assess your work.
