Working on a pharmaceutical site
Civil engineering stays civil engineering. It is the environment around it that asks something extra.
- Regulation and documentation
Far more has to be recorded and proven. That asks for a certain kind of person, with the patience to document as carefully as they build.
- Cleanroom projects
Building a cleanroom is its own discipline. Earlier cleanroom experience is often required for those projects.
- Civil and structural works too
Not every project sits in the regulated zone. A new hall outside it asks nothing extra, and purely civil work such as stairs or bridges asks no pharma background at all.

Honest answers to the questions civil profiles really ask.
- Do I need pharmaceutical experience?
Usually not, and it depends on the project. A lot of this work is straightforward civil engineering, and experience from food or another industry counts fully.
- How is this role different in the pharmaceutical industry?
Stricter regulation and much more documentation. The building is the same; the proof around it is not.
- When does cleanroom experience matter?
On cleanroom projects it is often required. Outside the regulated zone it makes no difference.
- Can I also work on Engineering projects?
Yes. The same roles exist in our Engineering competence center, for other industries. The vacancies are kept separate, so if you are open to both it is worth looking at the Engineering pages as well.
